How does mock-up service work?
How does mock-up service work?
The fitting process is as follows:
1. Mock-up creation: After you select the preliminary fitting service, I create a mock-up of the corset from cotton. This mock-up will be made to your exact measurements and will reflect the shape and construction of the final corset.
2. Mock-up delivery: Once the mock-up is made, it will be sent to you for a remote fitting. The package will include instructions on how to properly wear the mock-up to accurately assess its fit on your body.
3. Fit evaluation: During the fitting you should focus on comfort, fit, and whether the silhouette meets your expectations. Pay attention to how the mock-up fits around your waist, bust and hips, considering your body's unique features.
4. Feedback: After the fitting you will be asked to provide a detailed feedback. This may include adjustments to length, fit and other aspects. You will need to send photos or videos wearing the mock-up to help me assess the fit in detail.
5. Adjustments: Based on your feedback, I make necessary adjustments to the corset pattern to ensure the final product fits you perfectly.
6. Final corset creation: Once all adjustments are made, the process of cutting and sewing the corset from your chosen fabric begins!
Which fabric to choose?
Which fabric to choose?
If you live in a hot climate or prefer lightweight and authentic garments, a single-layer corset made from coutil or linen (like "Marie" or "Annie" Victorian corsets) will be great. Authentic Edwardian corsets were thin and light. If your climate is cooler and you prefer denser, breathable corsets that are also easy to care for, cotton twill or cotton sateen will suit you well. Cotton sateen has a slight sheen and is smooth (while cotton twill has a ribbed texture) and resembles regular satin but is more breathable. Satin blend, a mix of cotton and viscose, has a more elegant and expressive sheen while remaining matte. Heavy silk satin is the most luxurious option, made from 100% silk, and is widely known as duchess silk satin. It is ideal for special occasion corsets and infrequent wear since silk is a delicate fabric that requires special care. Heavy silk satin is the most difficult to maintain. Is hip padding included and Do I need it?
Small hip pads are attached to the corset from inside with hand stitches and can be included or not, based on your preferences, silhouette goals and body type. Please let me know if you prefer hip pads to be included with your corset or would like to get a recommendation!
