"Beatrice" Victorian Edwardian Petticoat
"Beatrice" Victorian Edwardian Petticoat
The "Beatrice" petticoat is an identical copy of an antique piece: the pattern used for its making was taken from the original item dating back to the late 1890s. The width of each tuck on the upper ruffle was also measured and reproduced with the utmost precision. The same goes for all other elements of the design: the techniques used for the waistband, the hem treatment of the petticoat, drawstrings for adjusting the size and fullness of the back panel, and much more.
Size 1 corresponds to modern sizes XS-S-M.
Size 2 corresponds to modern sizes L-XL-XXL.
Size 3 corresponds to modern plus sizes 18-20-22.
Thanks to drawstrings in the back the petticoat is easily adjustable and can fit three modern sizes at the same time. The "Beatrice" petticoat features an opening for a corset hook at the front, just like the original antique piece: hooks were attached onto corsets back in the time in order to keep petticoats from shifting and riding up, which prevented unwanted extra bulkiness at the waist.
